NERO will be upgrading both core routers in the Pittock Hub to
completely new hardware during the next regularly scheduled maintenance
window on Monday, November 26, 2007, between 0400-0600. At the same
time, we will be re-homing a couple of backbone circuits onto the core
This upgrade will enable significant continued growth in backbone
bandwidth as well as allow additional flexibility in adding services and
features to the network over the coming years. Since each current core
router provides redundant service, traffic impact to most customers will
be minimal while each is replaced one at a time.
The exceptions to the above include customers attached to the Bend,
Eastern Oregon University, Pendleton and Western Oregon University Hubs.
Traffic will be impacted for up to 5 minutes at each of these locations
while the backbone circuits are rehomed onto the new router hardware.
