As a COE/IS/NERO/HP experiment, we have set up a digital video connection from OCATE to the COE conference room via NERO; from COE/IS to HP Corvallis over the HOSE.

Starting this Friday, and for the 3 subsequent Fridays if all goes well, we will be carrying the OCATE free lecture series that takes place from 3-5 PM. Information about the series is available at

http://www.ocate.edu

This Friday, April 25th, Steve Whittaker of AT&T Labs will present "Speech-as-Data: Extracting useful Information from Everyday Speech"

May 2 "Visual Programming Language Research" Margaret Burnett, Oregon State

May 16 "Making Sense of Web Ecologies" Peter Pirolli, Xerox PARC

May 23 "The Jakarta Project" Don Batory, University of Texas

We will be interested to hear your comments as to how this technology works, or doesn't work, for this application.
